If you want to hire a car to use on your Mediterranean vacation, you will generally find it to be pretty easy. Many reputable companies offer car hire services in and around the Mediterranean, such as Avis, National, Budget, and Thrifty, just to name a few. These providers offer a full range of car types and sizes, plus a variety of rental contract packages. Remember that the landscape surrounding the Mediterranean can vary greatly (narrow streets, steep hills, rugged terrain, etc.) so be sure to select a hired car that's appropriate for the area in which you will drive.
You will need a valid driver's license and proof of insurance at minimum. Because there are so many different countries in the Mediterranean region, the driving rules and regulations will vary. Before setting out with your hired car be sure to understand the following:
